CSA

What do you get with a Burning River Farm CSA Share?

*The freshest produce available. We grow everything with chemical free, soil building methods. We specialize in familiar staples that you can use with just a little of the eclectic.

*For the traditional box share, we average 18 weeks of deliveries (Thursdays, June-October) delivered to a drop site near you.  There are three share sizes to choose from, from individual to a family of four.

*Access to the Local Thyme recipe service website with hundreds of recipes for what is in your shares.

*A weekly newsletter with farm news, list of the weeks veggies, cooking tips and additional recipes.

*A great value!  A Full Box Share ends up costing about $33.50/week.  When priced out with comparable Organic produce in the grocery stores, the actual value of a share averages greater than the price paid ($30-55/ per week) in a usual season.  Every season is different, and joining a CSA exposes you to the risks of farming. However, we have brought our members a good value each season thus farm.

Box Share Options

We have two options for how you get your veggies: traditional box shares or a Farmers market share.

Full Share

All the veggie goods that the farm grows. A full share averages 18 weeks of delivery through the summer. The full share comes in a 3/4 bushel produce box. It is a good option for 2 veggie loving adults or a family of 4.

Full Share: $625

Single Share

Same variety as a full share, only smaller quantity. A single share averages 18 weeks of delivery through the summer. The single share comes in a 5/9th bushel produce box. It is a good option for 1 veggie loving adult or 2-3 moderate veggie eaters.

Single share: $545

Salad Share

Salad Share runs for an average of 18 weeks and is delivered in a 1/2 bushel box. This share is ideal for members who want a fresh farm supplemental, but still looking to purchase some items from the store and farmers market. A Salad Share will have less variety (5-7 items per week as opposed to 6-12) than the others, but contains items that can be easily integrated into your meals. It will be heavy on greens that you can use in salads and easy cooking.

Salad Share: $370

Farmers Market Share Option

This option essentially works as a prepaid "account" that you can use to purchase your vegetables in any amount from the farm at any farmers market that we attend. Good for as long as you have a balance. There is no expiration date on any unused value. Each share is worth a percentage more than the purchase price.

We are currently at 3 farmers' markets in the Twin Cities -- Mill City, Northeast, and Midtown.

There are 3 prepaid amounts: $200 for a $230 value, $300 for a $355 value, $400 for a $480 value.

Frequently Asked Questions

-How long have you been growing for your CSA members? We have been growing for the Mill City Farmers Market for 11 years and for our CSA members for 10. 2017 will be the farms 12th growing season.

-Can I make payments on a CSA share? If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact the farm. Preferably, any remaining payments would be submitted as post dated check(s). We will wait to deposit the post dated payments until on the agreed upon date(s).

-Can we pick up our share at the Mill City Farmers Market or NE Minneapolis Farmers Market? We don't delivery our box shares to the farmers markets. We do offer Market Shares.  Essentially this consists of a prepaid amount with a greater redeamable value that you can use at either the Mill City Farmers Market or Northeast Minneapolis Farmers Market. We deliver our box CSA shares on Thursdays, arrival time depending on your drop site location.

-Can we come to the farm? Yes. We also have an open door policy for our members who want to see where and how their food is grown. Please call ahead and keep in mind that this is a working farm!

-Can I choose what I get in my box each week? With the Box Shares, we are unable to specialize each share.  We do try to have items that you can use each week. If an item is out of the ordinary, we will provide recipes for that item. We won't overwhelm you with unusual vegetables!  Think: staples you can use. With the Market Share, you have the option of what and how much you will redeem for within the limit of what we have at market on any given week. You are also not obligated to attend market every week. Show up and use your credit when you want.

-Are you Organic? We grow under the non profit Certified Naturally Grown label. CNG is a grassroots alternative to USDA Organic. We do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides and focus on building our soils for the current and future seasons.

-Do you have winter shares? We don't. If you want a really kickin' winter share, check out Foxtail Farm CSA in Osceola, WI.
