Time to get moving...

Spring is funny. It’s so…flexible. In the summer, nothing is. In the summer, you roll out of bed in the morning and start doing farm tasks all before your brain has engaged in the world with you. Sometimes, it doesn’t engage. You make notes to yourself the day before, knowing that your body can carry on, even if your mind won’t.

Spring though? The lines between the tasks on the to do list are not straight. There is no raging fire to be put out. Few do or die moments. It’s the little things, here and there, which intersperse together. A felting of activities. There is no pressure other than the knowing that if you can get X, Y, and Z done now, there should be outcomes down the road, and perhaps less pressure. And if you don’t, well…that’s not to know unless you arrive there.

Spring is a series of tasks, disconnected from the feeling of immediate need.

“But in the summer” says brain half one. “The pressure is constant. Does it really matter what I do now? Because…it will feel the same either way.”. In these cases, it is advisable to ignore this half of the brain. “Yes, it will be worth it”, brain half two implores “How long has it been? Do you really not know by now?”.

Brain half two likes to ignore that it’s in the same brain and brain half one. It’s super inconvenient for Brain 2’s self image.

The biggest task in Spring is pretending that it is summer. Pretending that the world is on fire and you have to put it out.

It’s time to get moving.
